About me
From the time that my own parents divorced when I was 11, I have been curious about relationships. I wanted to learn what makes them work, how they fail, and how to help families have healthy relationships in order to raise happy, healthy children.
My interest in relationships led me to Bowen Family Systems Theory, which is the basis for my practice model. I have been studying Bowen Theory for over 20 years through attendance at conferences, group coaching and individual coaching.
I finished my Master of Social Work program at the George Warren Brown School of Social Work in December of 1999. My professional experience includes child and family services in a community mental health setting, and experience in private practice providing counseling services and adoption homestudy services.
I think it's also important for you to know a little about me personally. I have been married to my husband for 18 years. Together, we have four children, ages 16, 14, 12, and 10. The energy I have spent taking care of my marriage and my relationships with my children will also be a benefit to you as I work with you.
In my free time, I enjoy long walks, yoga, and traveling with my family. I love to read for fun, but also to find answers to satisfy my curiosity or solve a problem. I have read extensively about attachment, child development, positive parenting, healthy communication, education, relationships, and mindfulness.
